Clearly influenced by Mucha’s Têtes Byzantines, Atché’s spin on female beauty in profile is perhaps more contemplative than the Art Nouveau master’s. Like a fine Renaissance lady, she is lost in thought against an intricate weaving of dusty jewel-toned foliage. This printing was used as a 1904 New Year's greeting promotion for the printer Coube in Nancy. (Art Nouveau)
