A BRONZE CANNON, QING DYNASTY, DAOGUANG PERIOD
China, 1821-1850. Massively cast in tapering cylindrical form with raised ribs dividing the vent, reinforcements, chase and muzzle, flanked by a pair of cylindrical trunnions with incised inscriptions, the finial knob of a domed shape.
Inscriptions:
The trunnion with a weight mark '104 Jin'.
Provenance
: French trade.
Condition
: Excellent condition with some wear and casting flaws, few nicks, small dents, light surface scratches, and malachite encrustations. Fine naturally grown patina overall.
