Hadrian, 117-138. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 2.86 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in the East, 128-circa 130. HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS Laureate head of Hadrian to right. Rev. COS [III] Pax-Nemesis, winged, standing right, holding out fold of drapery below chin with her right hand and placing her left on wheel set on the ground. BMC -. Cohen -. RIC 3061. Of the highest rarity. Minor deposits and with light scratches, otherwise, good very fine.


From the Red Ox Collection and the collection of the Czech musician Adolf Picek (circa 1885-1978), and formerly in the possession of an Italian banker, whose life was saved by Mr. Picek in the Battles of the Piave River on the Italian Front in 1917-1918 and who presented his savior with 'four socks of old coins' in reward.
