A LARGE CARVED GILTWOOD CONSOLE TABLE 19TH CENTURY Carved with bold acanthus scrolls throughout 90cm high, 196cm wide, 72cm deep Condition Report: Table with the marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with ager and use. Various old splits and chips.As illustrated, table is without a marble top. Two later pine blocks fixed to the rear edge of the top. Some evidence of old worm in various places. Two later boards of timber fixed across the back of the table to help secure the frame. Some old repairs to carved elements - see images. Surface has been re-gilded at some point. The gilding bears the expected cracks, chips, wear and losses throughout.Later thin blocks of timber added to the underside of the feetThe underlying timber in the construction is difficult to determine but it is likely beech - all elements have either been gilded or covered in a yellow paint or stain and we cannot guarantee the timbers included.Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.
