AMENDMENT: Should read '20Th Century' rather 'mid-late 19th century' -
British Provincial School, mid-late 19th century- Sheep in a pasture with woodland, hills and a village beyond; oil on canvas, in a 19th century maple veneered frame, 56x76cm CONDITION REPORT: there is an amendment on this lot to read '20th Century' rather than mid-late 19th century as described frame is a mid 19th century moulding frame with faux maple veneer painted surface frame with some chips and damages to the corners not the original frame for this painting canvas held in place in the frame with modern nails and cork spacers remains of modern brown paper attached on the reverse of the stretcher canvas has not been relined there is some staining visible on the reverse of the canvas, possibly where re-varnishing of the paint surface has bled through the craquelure paint surface has slightly raised craquelure throughout under inspection with uv lamp there is one small spot of retouching above the back of the sheep, second in from the right hand edge otherwise good condition
