Lot of two boxes, comprising:
A rectangular box on four small corner feet, in enamel on metal, with polychrome decoration on a light gray background, of two phoenixes surrounding a white enameled double chrysanthemum, the edges surrounded by silver.

A wooden box on a base, decorated in light relief with the torii of Itsukushima shrine on the island of Miyajima, signed Sengaku.

Presumed private collection of Monsieur Auguste Gérard (1852-1922), French ambassador to China (1893-1897) and Japan (1907-1913).
