A Russian Gardner porcelain figure of a City Guard, 1820s, from the Magic Lantern series, 16 cm high, underglaze blue G mark and impressed 7 (or 1) Literature: GARDNER, XVIII -XIX, Porcelain Plastic Arts, From Private Collection and Moscow Museums, page 108, Chapter 4, Magic Lantern - the figure is in the collection of SMC "Kuskovo" - State Museum of Ceramics Kuskovo, Moscow. Repair to the axe hand and the axe itself may be restored. Possible glue residue on the base of the axe, and fine cracks up its length suggest previous professional restoration. Possible restoration also to right hand. May benefit from cleaning.
