An 18th century and later yellow ground Chinoiserie japanned longcase clock the dial signed for Soloman Collins, Chertsey the hood with moulded cornice above a pair of columns surmounted by a moulded caddy top with brass onion finials, the trunk with lenticle to the moulded door on plinth base, the later decorated case with all-over pagoda landscape and figural scenes within floral and foliate trellis borders, the 12' brass dial with silvered Roman chapter ring with outer Arabic five minute track and decorative spandrels, the matted centre with subsidiary seconds and ring turned winding holes, the five pillar eight day brass movement with anchor escapement striking on a bell, with pendulum, winder and two lead weights, 224cm approximately overall Footnotes: Soloman Collins of Chertsey is recorded by Loomes as working circa 1730.
