George VI Silver Treasury Inkstand Belonging to The Rt. Hon. Lord Ashcombe


George VI silver treasury inkstand, London dated 1936, mm Lambert and Hariman. The rectangular inkstand having a hinged pen box and three hinged forward compartments, ring handles. This inkstand belonged to Henry Edward Cubitt, 2nd Baron Ashcombe CB TD (1867-1947) British politician and peer, he was Conservative Party Member of Parliament for Reigate between 1892 and 1906. He later served as Lord Lieutenant of Surrey from 1905 to 1939. The inkstand is engraved as follows: County Hall Extension presented to The Rt. Hon. Lord Ashcombe C.B Lord Lieut. Surrey by Surrey County Council 18th January 1938, further engraved with a heraldic shield 'Felix Oui Prudens', the Cubitt family crest. The inkstand measures 23 x 15.5 x 5.5 cms, 1450 gms. Provenance: The Late Lord Ashcombe, Sudeley Castle & Gardens, Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. Condition Report * Pin dent to right hand corner, slightly bent to the opposing corner.
