A GEORGE II CARVED WALNUT WING ARMCHAIR CIRCA 1740 116cm high, 89cm wide, 71cm deep overallProvenance: Property from the Phillip Lucas Collection, Spitalfields HouseCondition Report: Chair with the marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Various old chips, splits and some losses. Old holes to underside of pad feet from where castors once sat. Evidence of old worm to various areas. Later supporting blocks to the backs of all legs where they meet the rails. Rear seat rail is a later replacement. The other seat rails have been covered by thin blocks of later timber. Various old tack holes to frame from where previous upholstery sat. Old screw repairs to joints of frame, some have been disguised with filler. Sections of replacement timber inset to the supports of the arms. As illustrated, chair with without upholstery. It is covered in calico and hessian.Chair is structurally solid.
